Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") describes how the Bruno service may not be used. It is part of the Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to follow this AUP. We may update it from time to time.

1. Don't break the law

You may not use the Service:

  • To violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
  • To distribute or generate content that infringes intellectual-property rights.
  • To facilitate fraud, deceptive practices, or scams.
  • To engage in unlawful surveillance, stalking, or harassment.

2. Don't use Bruno against people

  • No content that is sexual content involving minors, or otherwise targeting minors in harmful ways.
  • No content that incites violence against individuals or groups, or facilitates real-world harm.
  • No targeted harassment, doxxing, or stalking.
  • No discrimination on the basis of legally protected characteristics.

3. Don't impersonate or mislead

  • You must not deceive visitors into believing Bruno is a human when they ask, or hide that an automated assistant is talking to them when laws require disclosure.
  • You must not impersonate Bruno, our staff, or other organisations on or via the Service.
  • You must not configure Bruno to give legal, medical, or financial advice as if from a licensed professional, or to make consequential decisions about benefits, employment, credit, or insurance.

4. Don't abuse the platform

  • No unauthorised security testing of the Service. To report a security issue see our disclosure process.
  • No attempts to bypass rate limits, plan limits, or authentication.
  • No reverse-engineering of the widget for the purpose of exfiltrating customer data, building competing services, or circumventing safety controls.
  • No deliberately overloading the Service or interfering with other customers.
  • No use of the Service to mine cryptocurrency or run general-purpose compute.

5. Don't misuse the AI

  • No content that aims to generate or facilitate malware, phishing kits, or otherwise compromise systems.
  • No prompts engineered to produce sexual content involving minors, or to generate weapons-related uplift.
  • No content designed to manipulate elections or impersonate real people in misleading ways.
  • No automated bulk generation of low-quality, deceptive, or SEO-spam content via the Service.

6. Sensitive data

  • Do not upload special-category personal data (e.g., health, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, sexual orientation) to the knowledge base unless you have a clear lawful basis and a written agreement with us covering it.
  • Do not upload payment-card data, government IDs, or other directly identifying credentials to the knowledge base.
  • Bruno is not a HIPAA Business Associate. Do not use the Service to process Protected Health Information (PHI).

7. Children and minors

The Service is not directed at children under 13 (or 16 in some jurisdictions). If you operate a service whose visitors are likely to be children, you are responsible for ensuring lawful processing under applicable child-protection laws (e.g., COPPA, GDPR Article 8) and obtaining parental consent where required.

8. Reporting abuse

If you believe Bruno is being used to violate this AUP, email help@bruno.support with subject "Abuse report". Include the URL where you encountered the issue and any relevant details.

9. Enforcement

We may take any of the following actions, with or without prior notice depending on severity:

  • Warn you and ask for changes.
  • Throttle or suspend the offending website's widget.
  • Suspend or terminate the account.
  • Cooperate with law-enforcement requests as legally required.

We will use reasonable efforts to give you the chance to remedy issues before suspending or terminating, except where doing so would put visitors, third parties, or the integrity of the Service at risk.

10. Changes

We may update this AUP. We'll post the latest version here. Significant changes are announced to customers via email or the dashboard.
